Properties

Reactivity

D-20 is an alkyl trialkoxysilane. Trialkoxy groups are hydrolyzable and form silicon hydroxyl groups (Si OH) after hydrolysis. The silicon hydroxyl groups are easily condensed to form a very stable silicon oxide structure (Si O-Si -). There are many factors that affect hydrolysis and condensation, the most important of which are pH value, concentration, solvent, temperature, and catalyst.

D-20, the silanol formed after hydrolysis can react with hydroxyl groups on the surface of inorganic materials such as quartz, clay, and silica to form a hydrophobic layer.

D-20,the alkoxysilane can react with hydroxyl terminated alkoxysilane under the action of a catalyst. Then, by utilizing the hydrolytic condensation properties of alkoxysilane, an elastomer with good mechanical properties can be formed.

Application

A crosslinking agent and silicone resin coating for dealcoholized single component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber. The transparent coating obtained by D-20 hydrolysis condensation is widely used as a surface hardening, wear-resistant, and solvent resistant coating for plastic products such as sun panels, eyeglass lenses, sunglasses, and car taillights.

Sol gel for producing organic-inorganic hybrid materials. D-20 can be used alone, or co hydrolyzed with other silicates (such as D-101, D-130), or other organic silane. After the sol gel process, various required properties can be achieved by adjusting the pH value, temperature, concentration and other conditions of hydrolysis.

Inorganic material surface hydrophobic agent. When used as a filler pigment treatment agent, the recommended dosage for D-20 is 0.5~1.0% of the total solid content. When used as a powder filler treatment agent, D-20 can be directly added to the powder mixer for filler treatment. D-20 can also be diluted to 10% with methanol or isopropanol before use. Generally speaking, silane accounts for 0.5-1.0% of the total solid content.

Pigment dispersant aids. It can be directly added to the resin with pigments to improve the dispersibility of pigments in the resin.
