Properties and Reactivity

LT-1170 is a secondary aminofunctional silane possessing two symmetric silicon atoms.
       LT-1170 may act as an adhesion promoter between inorganic materials (for example glass, metals and fillers) and organic polymers (thermosets, thermoplastics and elastomers) or as a surface modifier.

LT-1170 is a slightly yellowish liquid with an amine-like odor. It is soluble in alcohols, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons.

Application

◆ Amino bis-silanes such as LT-1170 has been shown to be effective in reacting with epoxy, urethane, melamine, polyimide, phenolic and furan thermosetting resins as well as many thermoplastics, such as polyamides and polyesters.

◆ Durable water-resistant bonds are generally achieved when the silyl portion of these aminosilanes are condensed with an inorganic surface and are covalently bonded with the resin matrix of the composite, paint, adhesive or sealant.

◆ Dialkoxysilane structure of LT-1170 have additive excellence that is one of in resin with two silyl groups.This typically yields more durable wet adhesion and more efficient bonding per mole of added silane.²

◆ The LT-1170 silane as the methoxy ester versions, generally offer a quick cure and rapid adhesion build.

◆ LT-1170 may be considered for similar reactivity with potential savings.

◆ These versatile silanes typically can be added directly to polymers during system formulation, or used independently as primers.
