Properties

D-24 is Colorless, transparent, low-viscosity liquid. Soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, chain hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons.

Contains one propyl group and three hydrolyzable alkoxy groups.

Reacts with inorganic materials.

It can be hydrolyzed and polycondensed to form an elastomer or hydrophobic layer.

Reactivity

D-24 is an alkyl trialkoxysilane. The trialkoxy group is hydrolyzable. After hydrolysis, the silanol group (Si-OH) is formed, and the silanol group is easily condensed to form a very stable siloxysilicon structure (-Si-O-Si-). There are many factors that affect hydrolysis and condensation, the most important factors are: PH value, concentration, solvent, temperature and catalyst.

The silanol formed by the hydrolysis of D-24 can react with the hydroxyl groups on the surface of inorganic materials such as quartz, clay and silica to form a hydrophobic layer.

The alkoxysilane in D-24 can react with hydroxyl-terminated alkoxysilane under the action of a catalyst. Then the hydrolyzable condensability of alkoxysilane can be used to form an elastomer with good mechanical properties.

D-24 is a transparent coating made by hydrolysis and condensation, which is widely used as a hardening, wear-resistant and solvent-resistant coating on the surface of plastic products such as sun panels, spectacle lenses, sunglasses and car tail lights.

Used to produce sol-gel for organic-inorganic hybrid materials. D-24 can be used alone, or co-hydrolyzed with other silicates (such as D-101, D-130), or other organosilanes. After the sol-gel process, the pH, temperature and concentration of the hydrolysis can be adjusted And other conditions to achieve various required performance.
